Slow Cooker or Crockpot BBQ Ribs 慢炖锅烧烤排骨

My hubby loves Barbecue or BBQ pork ribs very much but I have always thought that cooking it at home may be complicated and time consuming!


NOW, with this Crockpot or Slow Cooker BBQ ribs method, it will be the simplest and easiest way (which I like most) to home make your BBQ ribs with LITTLE EFFORT.

You just leave and cook you marinated ribs in the slow cooker or crockpot for 6-7 hours until tender (you may serve at this point) and broil for a few minutes to caramelise it. That is all you need to do.......really.

Ingredient:
  • 3lbs or 1.3kg Pork ribs (you may use beef rib)
  • 1 and 1/2 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1 and 1/2 cups of your favourite BBQ sauce 
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

This is my 15 year old slow cooker :)


Note: You may also add in some of your favourite spices like paprika, cumin, oregano but I like to keep my BBQ ribs simple.

Method:
  • Wash and pat your ribs dry with paper towel.
  • Rub both sides of the ribs with brown sugar, salt and pepper.
  • Place the ribs in the slow cooker with meaty part facing the wall of the pot.

Note: My slow cooker is too small for all the ribs, so I have to take 1/4 of the ribs out. That means we have less ribs to share among us :(

  • Pour the BBQ sauce onto the ribs and cook on slow for 6-7 hours until tender. My ribs were readied after 6 hours.

  • Preheat your oven's boiler when your ribs are almost ready in the slow cooker.
  • Remove the ribs carefully from the slow cooker (as they were now very tender and will be fallen apart easily) and place it on the baking sheet with aluminium foil and a cooling rack. Set aside. 

Note: At this stage, the ribs' appearance might not be appealing but don't worry as it will transform into a nice looking and tasty BBQ ribs after the broil. 
  • Pour the liquid from the slow cooker into a pot and bring to boil for about 15 minutes to reduce and thicken the sauce.
  • When the sauce has reduced and thicken, brush onto the ribs and broil for 3-4 minutes. Remove from the oven, brush with the sauce and broil for another 3-4 minutes. You may brush more sauce and broil until you reach your desired caramelisation. 
Note: If you do not have a broiler in your oven, you may bake it or just to serve the ribs with the thickening sauce after the slow cooker.

I served my BBQ with some creamy mashed potatoes and broccoli and some extra sauce.
