Honey Soy Sauce Baked Chicken 醬油蜂蜜烤鸡

Honey Soy Sauce Baked Chicken 醬油蜂蜜烤鸡

This is one of my favourite chicken recipe that I always cook for my family. It is an ideal dish that you can prepare right before cooking if you are a busy working mum, rushing home after work and would like to cook dinner for your loved ones. Well, if you have time, then you may marinade the chicken and leave them in the fridge before cooking.

The ingredients needed in this recipe is pretty simple and inexpensive. You may choose to have chicken tights, chicken drumsticks or other part of the chicken. This baked chicken is good to serve with rice or any side dishes like mashed potatoes, salad and so on.

Ingredients:
  • 1.2 kg Chicken pieces
  • 4 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 4 tbsp Honey
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil or Vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp freshly grated ginger or 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 4 Cloves garlic, minced or 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Method:
  • Rinse and pat dry the chicken with paper towel. Season the chicken with salt and pepper.
  • Mix all the seasonings in a big bowl.
  • Add the chicken in the seasonings making sure to coat each piece.

  • Cover with cling film or plastic wrap and keep in the fridge for at least 30-60 minutes if you are not baking them right away.
  • Preheat the oven to 220C and at the same time take out the marinated chicken from the fridge.
Note: Remember to preheat your oven first if you are baking right away after the seasoning.
  • Place the chicken in a baking pan or heatproof dish with the skin side up and pour the marinade liquid over top.
  • Bake for 25 minutes.

After 25 minutes of baking
  • Flip the chicken and bake for another 10 minutes.
Flip the chicken

After 10 minutes of baking on skin down
  • Then turn the chicken back to skin side up and bake for another 10 minutes to crisp up the skin.
After another 10 mins of baking on skin up

  • Serve the baked chicken hot with the sauce.

Note: The turning while baking is to ensure for evenly cooking of the chicken.
